Agriculture Sector Development Programme (ASDP)

The Agriculture Sector Development Programme (ASDP) is a Government of Nepal initiative, supported by IFAD through loans and grants. Launched in July 2018 for six years, ASDP aims to reduce poverty and nutrition insecurity in Karnali Province, aligning with SDG1 and SDG2. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD) is the main executing agency.

ASDP operates under Nepal’s federal governance system in 10 districts, with its Coordination Office in Surkhet and corridor offices in Salyan, Jajarkot, and Jumla. A key component, Rural Financial Services, supports at least 100 cooperatives, including 20 formed through group consolidation. These cooperatives will be engaged in two batches of 50 each, receiving capacity development support from Nepal Agriculture Cooperative Central Federation Ltd. NACCFL  through training, coaching, and mentoring. Performance indicators will be developed based on a scoping study to measure improvements in outreach, management, credit disbursement, and savings collection.
