Nepal Agricultural Cooperative Central Federation Ltd. (NACCFL) and Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU), Rampur, Chitwan, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 15th October 2025, to foster academic-cooperatives collaboration for sustainable agricultural transformation in Nepal.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Rudra Bahadur Shrestha, General Manager of NACCFL, and Prof. Dr. Sharada Thapaliya, Vice-Chancellor of AFU, in the presence Mr. Khem Bahadur Pathak, Chairperson, all the BOD of the NACCFL, and officials from both institutions.
This collaboration aims to strengthen joint efforts in research, academic exchange, and capacity building in the areas of agriculture, livestock, forestry, and cooperative development.
Under the agreement, both institutions will:
- Develop and implement joint projects on sustainable agriculture, climate adaptation, biodiversity conservation, livestock, forestry, cooperative development, and cross-cutting issues.
- Conduct capacity-building programs for farmers, cooperative members, and students research and intern program.
- Facilitate research, internships, and academic engagement for AFU students within NACCFL-affiliated cooperatives.
- Collaborate on policy dialogues, seminars, and knowledge-sharing events related to agricultural and rural transformation.
By combining AFU’s academic and research expertise with NACCFL’s nationwide cooperative network of over 1,300 member organizations, this partnership envisions enhancing productivity, strengthening rural livelihoods, and promoting food security across Nepal.
