On the occasion of the 103rd International Cooperative Day 2081, Nepal Agriculture Cooperative Central Federation Ltd. was presented with a special honor.
The Federation was awarded at a grand ceremony held in the capital on Saturday, jointly organized by the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation and the National Cooperative Federation. Nepal Agriculture Cooperative Central Federation Ltd. was recognized for its significant contribution to empowering the poor, Dalits, marginalized communities, youth, and women by sustainably and effectively operating the cooperative movement in Nepal's rural areas.
The program held under “Cooperatives: Driving Inclusive and Sustainable Solutions for a Better World.” " slogan also honored various cooperative organizations and individuals.
This year's National Cooperative Award was presented to Govinda Prasad Upreti, Chairman of Bhuwaneshwori Dairy Production Cooperative Institution Ltd. in Barahathawa-15, Sarlahi.
Similarly, the Cooperative Journalism Award went to Madhav Khadka, Editor of Nepalpatra; the Excellent Cooperative Employee Award to Laxmi Gyawali, Manager of District Cooperative Organization, Rupandehi; and the District Level Excellent Cooperative Award to Dolakha District Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization.
Excellent cooperative institutions from all seven provinces were also awarded:
Koshi – Mechi Krishak Bahumukhi Cooperative Ltd. , Jhapa
Madhesh - Womens Small Farmers Agriculture Cooperative Ltd. Laxminiya, Dhanusha
Bagmati - Community Savings and Credit Cooperative Ltd., Panauti, Kavre
Gandaki - Gramin Swavalamban Sana Kisan Krishi Cooperative Ltd. , Syangja
Lumbini -Indreni Multipurpose Cooperative Institution, Rupandehi
Karnali - Chandannath Multipurpose Cooperative Ltd., Jumla
Sudurpaschim - Jeevanjyoti Savings and Credit Cooperative Ltd, Baitadi
During the event, a cooperative study report jointly prepared by the National Cooperative Federation and Heifer International was unveiled. Inspirational stories of struggle from women leaders who have contributed to the cooperative sector-Nirmala Dangal, Dilmaya Saru, and Nilam BK- were also presented.
In the program, Minister of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Balram Adhikari, expressed his commitment to amending cooperative-friendly laws for the strengthening of the cooperative sector, emphasizing the need for cooperation and unity.
Distinguished guests, including Ministry Secretary Kedar Nath Sharma, Federation advisors Keshav Badal, Deepak Prakash Baskota, and Khagaraj Adhikari, were present at the event.
