Mr. Bishow Parajuli brings 40 years of distinguished experiences with the UN system in development, humanitarian affairs, diplomacy, fund raising, and management in several countries in Asia, Middle East and Africa. Mr Parajuli is among a few Nepal to have had such distinguished experiences within the UN system. Since his retirement within the UN system in Dec 2022, Mr Parajuli has returned to Nepal and is engaged in farming and actively promoting food and nutrition security, agricultural development and good governance. Mr Parajuli has served as the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, the highest-level UN official in a country and the UNDP Resident Representative in Myanmar and Zimbabwe. He was WFP Representative in India, Egypt and Yemen and also served, as the Chief of Staff and Director, Resource Mobilization and Government Relations in WFP Headquarters in Rome. Mr Parajuli has also worked in various positions in WFP offices in Indonesia, Bangladesh, Mozambique, Botswana and its HQ in Italy. Mr Parajuli has been conferred with the “Zimbabwe International Order of Friendship (in Gold”) Award, from President of Zimbabwe and the Diplomat of the Year by the Zimbabwe Diplomat Trust for his outstanding leadership and engagements in development and humanitarian partnership in Zimbabwe. Mr. Parajuli, has also received the WFP Merit Award for 2006 by WFP Executive Director. Mr Parajuli holds two Masters degrees in Agricultural Development (M. Sc- Rural Development and in Business Administration (MBA- Marketing Management) and an Honors degree in Agricultural Science (BSc. Ag. Hons.) and was conferred with D.Lit ( Honorary Causa) by KIIT in India. He and his wife have three children.
